Here is our story

Our Story

The legacy started in 1945 when John and Angie Martino decided to open a small dry-cleaning business in Kenosha, WI. Together, they opened Rite-Way Cleaners. Now, 75 years later, their legacy and their mission continue.

It all started when John worked for a cleaner in Milwaukee called Spic-n-Span. After several years, he asked himself why he was working so hard for someone else. So he decided to open his cleaners and work for himself and his family. Angie’s family lived in Kenosha, and there were many business opportunities. They both agreed Kenosha was the place to open Rite-Way Cleaners.

In 1970, Dan Sr. opened The Better One-Hour Cleaners. He had worked for John for many years and decided he wanted his own store. So from 1970 until 1978, when John retired, Father and son were healthy competitors.

John’s retirement instigated the first expansion, to two locations, in 1978. Then, with the need to open a new store, Dan and Phyllis built Village Pride cleaners in 1985. They also purchased a competitor’s store, Garment Groomers, in 1988. That brought the total up to 4 locations. And finally, in 2003, they opened a store in Pleasant Prairie.

In the 1980s, a need for a delivery service was shown. The Martino’s took action and began their free VIP Pick-up and Delivery Service!

In 1991, all existing stores got a new name! Martino’s Master Drycleaners

In 2010, the son of Dan Sr., Dan II, took over the family business growing and expanding along the way!

The Martino family is proud to be a part of your community and your hometown dry cleaner!
